This space is designed to give German I students at IAA access to a variety of materials to help them be successful in this course. Specifically, there are guidelines to accompany "Wie Geht's" by Dieter Sevin and Ingrid Sevin. Click on the chapters on the left for grammatical explanations. There are also hand outs for the class.

The are flashcards available at Word Champ(The link will open in a new window.) Use the course code I give you to view my flashcards. These flashcards have excellent audio to practice your pronunciation.
You can make your own flashcards at Spellingcity.com(opens in a new window). This site has great games for spelling practice, but the site is designed just for the English language, so the audio is not very good.
Typing Special Characters:
There are several methods for typing special characters in a foreign language.
Choose "Insert/Symbol" from the pull-down menu.
Use the Control key (Ctrl) with the colon, then a vowel for umlauts. Hit and hold the CTRL key while typing the colon. Release both and type the vowel.
Create your own shortcut key from the "Insert/Symbol" menu.
Add the German keyboard from the control panel / regional settings. This will work with all applications, but some of the keys have a different location. Here is a picture of the German keyboard:
